Training/Event Description

On behalf of the Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST), under the College of Information and Communication Technology—Department of Information Systems and Technology—we are delighted to invite ICT staff from your organisation to participate in the Applied Cybersecurity and Network Systems Administration Short Course. The training will be held from 05th January 2026 to 18th January 2026 at the Mbeya University Main Campus.

In today’s environment of increasing cyber threats, organisations must ensure that their ICT teams are capable of preventing, detecting, and responding to security incidents. This intensive and hands-on course is designed to help your organisation reduce cybersecurity risks, protect critical systems, and strengthen overall operational resilience.

Participants will gain practical expertise in:

  • Designing and implementing secure network architectures
  • Deploying effective defence and mitigation mechanisms
  • Identifying vulnerabilities and simulating realistic cyber-attacks
  • Applying best practices in system administration and incident response
  • Enhancing organisational readiness against modern cybersecurity threats

By the end of the course, your nominated participant will return with immediately applicable skills that can significantly improve your organisation’s cybersecurity posture, reduce exposure to attacks, and support continuity of operations.

We strongly believe that releasing your staff to attend this training is an investment in safeguarding your organisation’s digital assets, lowering risks, and ensuring compliance with evolving ICT security standards.

Course Objectives:

i. Design, configure, and secure enterprise-level network systems aligned with best practices (ISO 27001, NIST).

ii. Detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats and attacks through real-world simulations.

iii. Implement firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and encryption protocols to safeguard systems and communications.

iv. Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network security incidents using industrystandard tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, and SIEM platforms.

v. Develop and implement incident response and recovery procedures that strengthen organisational resilience.

vi. Apply practical, hands-on cybersecurity techniques that participants can use immediately within their institutions. vii. Complete a final practical project demonstrating the ability to design, secure, and defend a simulated enterprise network.

Fee Details:

i. Tuition Fee: TZS 900,000/= per participant.

ii. Fee Includes: Training materials, lab access, refreshments, and certification.

iii. The fee shall be paid through a control number, which will be issued upon confirmation of participation.
